SkyDrive renamed to OneDrive, Microsoft gives 100GB free to early birds

January 27, 2014 Microsoft announced that they will change the name of their cloud storage from SkyDrive to OneDrive.

The name OneDrive may come from the new gaming console of Microsoft which is Xbox One. So there maybe more products that may follow the One branding.



SkyDrive team sent an email to SkyDrive users informing that a they will rebrand  the cloud storage to OneDrive and that everything they love about SkyDrive will remain and more will come soon.

Now that OneDrive is up, Microsoft will give an additional 100GB free for the next year if you belong to the first 100,000 peopl who will register to OneDrive. The free storage will be on top of your existing OneDrive capacity but only good for 1 year.

If you didn't qualify to the early bird race and but need more storage, you can get by paying. Additional 50GB costs $25 a year, 100GB for $50 a year, and 200GB for $100 a year.
